Star Light, Star Bright

Last night, January 29, was what will be the brightest appearing moon of 2010. This is because it happens to be at a place in it's orbit where it is closest to the earth, yet coincides with a full moon, making it appear bigger and brighter. I took a couple pictures with my camera because I was interested to see how they would turn out and I was pretty amazed at what I was able to pick up.

A Much Welcomed Piece of Mail

In my past few years as a student at the University of Alaska, most of the letters I have received have either said something along the lines of "please pay your parking ticket" or "stop being lazy and do your work" of course they word things a little better then that. So the letter I received in the mail today made me so happy, and proud of myself:

It was so nice to see some recognition for my hard work last semester and earning my first 4.0 gpa in my college history. Especially since I did it while still taking care of a little fireball and dealing with constant morning sickness. I may be bragging a little bit, but it's something I rarely get to do. =)

Lloyd

Tonight was an attempt at haircut number three for Wyatt. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to use the clippers to trim the sides and back. That buzzing feel against the back of his neck made a shiver run through his little body, and that was the end of that, clippers are not his friend. Between Justin holding him, feeding him fruit, and putting some Mickey Mouse on for him to watch, I somehow managed to cut his hair into a manageable length. Whether it looks good or not is up for debate. I was afraid with all of his squirming I would have to rename him Lloyd after his haircut was done:

Maybe I'll leave Wyatt's haircuts to the pros after this.
Here's the end result, I believe he looks pretty dang handsome. There are a couple places that will need to be evened up, but we decided to save that adventure for the morning.

BEFORE

AFTER

And now a note about spectacles: If Wyatt ever has to get glasses, he will be thrilled. He puts on glasses any chance that he gets. Of course when I go to put them on the are smudged to a nice cloudy finish, but they have provided at least minutes of entertainment.

Friends Old and New

I am so lucky to have great friends that have been there for years. And even luckier that some of my friends decided to have children at the same time as I did. They have been longtime "playmates" for me, and now we have created hopefully longtime playmates for our children!

Here pictured is Courtney, her daughters: Jessalyn, 2, and Aizlyn 6 weeks, Me with Wyatt, 16 months, and Susanna with Sariah, 18 months. AND!...a little one in my belly due July 6th, and a little one in Susanna's belly due August 6th! YAY!! Of course when taking a picture involving wiggly ones and adults it's hard to get everyone looking, so this was the best shot.

Cade is a friend of Wyatt's who is also close in age. He just turned two. And even though they are newer friends of ours, we have known them for a couple years, they have become great friends, and Cade and Wyatt have a blast together.

Then of course one of Wyatt's favorite friends, his cousin Haydn. And despite a 5 year age gap, I don't think either one of them realizes that it's even there.

A Brand New Doggy Backpack

When my brothers and I were young, my Mom made us these great doggy backpacks. I used to love stuffing it full with as many books as I could fit, and carrying it around. Or getting to put snacks and books and taking it on the airplane with me for our many travels. They were great backpacks that brought us years of fun around the house and out and about. So when my Mom told me that she had made one for Wyatt I was so happy, especially since he has been a dog lover since birth. He immediately gave it a hug and kiss when she brought it over for him, and although he was a little unsure of having it on his back at first, he didn't seem to mind it after a bit, and walked around with a doggy on his back for a while. I know this will be something Wyatt treasures for years, but I hope my Mom knows that this means she has to make doggy backpacks for all future children as well.

I'm dreaming of Greece

Yep, that's right. For the past couple of weeks we have been right along with the rest of the country and experiencing unusually cold temperatures. Last week we saw 35 degrees below zero, and it's supposed to get back down there this weekend. Ugh! It has left me dreaming of our honeymoon, a two week cruise through the Greek Isles in July. HOT, yes, but oh so beautiful. We consistently saw temperatures over 100 degrees everyday! We went to Greece, Italy, Crotia and Turkey. We had an amazing time and I came back with one of the best tans of my life, although Justin slightly resembled a lobster. And now as I sit cooped up in my house, not daring to venture out for too long, my mind drifts to the crystal clear waters and warm rays of sun. Even if it's 30 years from now, we will do that again!

Mykonos, Greece

Corfu, Greece

Hiking Mt. Vesuvius, Pompei/Naples, Italy
On our ship, check out my tan!!!

Lucky for us, since we are stuck at home, we have a great entertainment system, I'll post a picture:

Sure keeps us very entertained and occupied. Hopefully one day soon he will see the sun again! Until then I guess I'll just keep dreaming.

Wonderful Wednesday

I am having a wonderful time lately trying out my new camera on my favorite subject!

This I had to share also. Justin's Mom made this for Wyatt. It is all hand done - cut out of mat board - amazing! This will surely be something that will hang in Wyatt's room for years to come!
