CRASH!!

Well it finally happened. My trusty old computer that I got when I graduated high school has finally met its demise. It came in the form of a power surge. Luckily I had all of my pictures backed up! So for now we are computer less which means less blogging(although I have to admit I've been slacking lately). But with a crawling, climbing, cruising, teething, eating wonderful son, I have my hands full anyways! We are very much enjoying or summer though we have had great weather in the 70's mostly, with much needed breaks of rain every few days. Right now I'm used to this "hot" alaskan weather but next week it is off to Georgia! Wyatt and I will travel down for my brother Josh's wedding on July 4th. With family coming in from the surrounding states and a lot of wedding details to take care of, it won't be as relaxing as our normal visits to Papa's but it will still be great to see everyone again. I think I'll have to start cranking up the heat and running the humidifier in Wyatt's room at night to get him used to the 100 degree+ weather that they have been having in Georgia! After we spend the week in Georgia we will be flying over to Oregon to meet Justin and his family on the coast in Seaside. We have rented a beach house for everyone to stay in which will definitely make for a interesting trip! By the time July is over Wyatt and I will need a vacation from our vacations, just to rest up and sleep in our own beds! I will definitely post pictures of the upcoming nuptials and our vacation antics when I get a chance. Until then I hope everyone is soaking up the summer sun!

Happy Anniversary!

This day two years ago I married my best friend and my soul mate. Surrounded by our family and friends we said our vows and enjoyed a great time. Two years later our love has only grown with the addition of Wyatt to our lives. I love you Justin, Happy Anniversary! Here's to many more to come!

Summer Sun Calling My Name

I have been asking and asking for a new tree for our yard. So for Mother's Day, Justin bought me a crabapple tree that we planted along the driveway opposite our chokecherry tree, let's hope it makes it through the winter!
With our summer in full swing and temperatures in the 70's we needed a little cool down. So we broke out Wyatt's pool and he took a dip. I was tempted to climb in there with him, but I spared the neighbors that sight

Minnesota!

Well, I have to apologize, I've been caught up in the lure of the summer sun and have been out enjoying every minute of it! So as you might have noticed, it's been a while since I've updated so I'm going to do my best here to travel back in the past month here and play catch up!

At the beginning of May, Wyatt and I accompanied Justin on our very first trip to Minnesota. Justin's dad's family lives there so we were able to visit with all of them as well as attend his cousin CJ's wedding. Justin had warned me that Bemidji, Minnesota didn't have much to offer, and let me tell you he was right. It was pretty small, but we did get to see several neat things. We took a drive with Justin's dad up to the headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi, which isn't quite so mighty at the beginning, but it was a beautiful location to see. We also took pictures with Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox, Wyatt looked like a speck next to them! The highlight of our trip was the Wedding. CJ and Lexi had a beautiful wedding that was a lot of fun. We ate and danced and I was able to meet so many people from Justin's extended family. While we were down there we stayed with Justin's relatives and I think Wyatt would have been happy just staying there. He was in love with his cousins Maija and Taylor and his face would light up when he saw them. He even let Uncle Karson and Aunt Wendy babysit him! That is a big deal considering his only other babysitters have been his grandparents! He loved the whole family and probably would have been happy to move in! So even though at first Minnesota sounded a little boring to me, I would be happy to go and visit again anytime!

Family time

While I take a couple days to compile my thoughts and pictures from our recent vacation, here are a few good pictures from some family events this past month.

Grams and Wyatt enjoying the Easter basket!

Grandpa and Wyatt

We all got together to celebrate Charles & Nick's 21st birthday, although Charles is away at basic training. We went out to dinner and then came back to the house to enjoy a family birthday tradition - homade poppyseed cake.

Wyatt and his Godfather practicing their faces

Another family tradition is to break through the streamer to official get a year older, here is Nick taking part in the tradition with child-like glee! Also a couple of good family shots just minus Justin and Charles.

We also celebrated Dad's birthday in April, here is Wyatt helping him blow out the candles...notice the hand in the cake :)

Form Over Function

Months ago caught up in the second half of my pregnancy and my long list of things to buy, I set out on my search for the perfect crib. Not to frilly, but not boy-ly either. A natural neutral color that will go with any decor, and quality construction to last long enough for future little ones to rest in. Note that nowhere on this list is anything about ease of use, and that would explain my current backache. At this point I would trade my beautiful crib for the paint peeling, teeth mark covered, broken slatted one discarded in a dumpster somewhere, IF.. it had a drop down side. Let me paint you a picture of me trying to lay an almost sleeping baby down into his crib. The top of his crib hits me just above my waist. At a place in my body where I don't naturally bend. So when I get up from the rocking chair and creep over to the crib. I then have to perform a gymnastics act, mixed with the grace of ballet to lay him down without waking him all the way up. I raise up to the tip top of my toes to a place where my body will bend. Then I stretch my torso out and extend my go-go gadget arms, while keeping them strong to hold Wyatt's weight, and gently lay him down. If I want to kiss him goodnight once he is laying down I create an almost teeter totter type scene balancing my body on the edge of his crib, on leg off the ground trying to tip my body in the crib towards Wyatt all while trying not to fall in on top of him! And right now since Wyatt doesn't move in bed, the crib is on the highest setting, what the heck am I going to do when I have to move it to the lower setting? I'll be climbing in there with him I guess, and forget goodnight kisses on the forehead unless I want to end up in the crib too.. what's the weight limit on this thing again??

Baths, Birthdays, and Blast Off!

Yay! Bathtime! For the past seven months we have been taking a bath with Wyatt, and while we do enjoy it and it's a lot of fun, since it is part of his bedtime routine, Justin and I are starting to get a little wrinkly. So Wyatt had his first bath by himself! He loved it despite Maggie trying to drink his bathwater and steal his toys. The only problem is his new favorite thing is to pull himself up on EVERYTHING, so he kept trying to climb out of the tub!

Maggie is trying to steal his toys out of the tub!

Here I come!

UP!

Check out our bathtime fun and a little slip in the tub, which suprisingly doesn't bother him!

On another note, in a few short days we will be going on vacation! We leave Monday morning to fly to Minnesota for Justin's cousin's wedding. I have met a lot of Justin's family, but it will be nice to meet more and see those again who I met last summer. I have to admit that the idea of going to Minnesota has never thrilled me, but it will still be a great trip. Wyatt is such a lucky kid that in his short 7 months this is already his second vacation! And....we have two more planned this summer. It really is too bad that he won't remember these fun trips and meeting everybody for the first time. But I always make sure to take plenty of pictures so that he can see he was there and all the fun that we had.

P.S. Saturday is Dad's birthday, Happy Birthday DAD! And Monday is Uncle Larry's birthday, Happy 70th Birthday Uncle Larry!!

Big Boy Pajamas

My son wore big boy pajamas to bed tonight. You know the kind with no feet and a separate top that you can pull up to tickle and kiss their little belly? Those are the ones. No snaps up one leg and down the other, no zipper from head to toe. Just genuine big boy pajamas.

I feel like I want to put one hand on his top and one on his bottom and squish him back down to newborn size where he seemed to fit so perfectly curled between my chin and my chest. I recently held a newborn, just slightly larger then Wyatt was when he was born. She felt like a doll in my arms. A fragile glass doll that required 2 steady hands for every move. I feel Wyatt was never this small, yet he was smaller. Tonight I tucked my little bean into bed with his feet less pajamas, and went and curled up on the couch next to my husband. My mind drifted to Wyatt's first morning home from the hospital, and how I got up before Justin to enjoy the silence and stillness of the autumn morning with my new baby in my arms. I couldn't imagine him smiling, or crawling, jumping, rolling, wearing big boy pajamas...yet he is. At no other point in our lives do we grow and change at this incredible rate of speed. We would all be super genius giants if this were the case. So here he is, just jumped into the deep end of life and into a whole life filled with many adventures, and many nights of cold feet in his feet less big boy pajamas.
